Symmetric arms are as the name suggests- symmetric- the same length arm in the front and rear. When not in use the front arms swing straight ahead and the rear arms swing straight to the back. Symmetric arms are the preferred choice for longer wheelbase vehicles such as pickup trucks, vans or other vehicles that may have additional weight in the rear.
Asymmetric arms both swing to the rear when not in use and during loading. The front arm is shorter than the rear arm. With asymmetric arms the front arms are positioned at a 90 degree angle to the lift and allow the vehicle to be positioned with most of the vehicle weight shifted to the rear of the lift. Approximately 30% in front of the column and 70% behind it.
What are bi-symmetric arms?
Bi-Symmetric arms give you the best of both worlds, arms that can load the vehicle in either the symmetric position or asymmetric position. This allows for the a very versatile lift to accommodate many different types of vehicles.
